4 cases without reporting uncertainty.

 

1) In some cases, the recognized detection method sets limits on the main source of measurement uncertainty and specifies the representation of the calculation results, and the laboratory meets the requirements of the ISO17025 as long as it complies with the detection method and reporting requirements.

For example:

GB/T 18043-2013《Jewelry-Determination of precious metal content XRay Fluorescence Spectroscopy explains the uncertain assessment method in Appendix B, so the laboratory will be OK as long as it follows the standard, without additional assessment of uncertainty.

2) For a particular method, if the measurement uncertainty of the results has been determined and verified, the laboratory does not need to assess the measurement uncertainty for each result as long as it proves that the identified key influencing factors are controlled.

Note that the laboratory should pay attention to operating in accordance with standard operating procedures.

3) In the following two cases, there is no need to evaluate uncertainty:

a) The test results are not expressed by numerical values.

B) Test results are not based on numerical values

For example, the results are expressed as pass/fail, negative/positive.

1) When the measurement uncertainty is related to the validity or application of the test results, the uncertainty needs to be reported;

For example, if the laboratory makes a comparison, the En value needs to be used to evaluate the results.

2) Customer requirements report uncertainty or legal and regulatory standards are required:

For example, the customer specifies the need for uncertainty data in the contract.

3) When measuring uncertainty affects compliance with the specification limit.

For example, a product less than 10 is qualified and the measured result is 9.99, which requires reporting uncertainty.
